Nick joined DECC in 2011 and is one of OPRED’s Offshore Environmental Inspectors responsible for the regulation of a portfolio of appointed instillation / well operators and owners. Nick is responsible for both the development of policy and operational implementation of The Merchant Shipping (Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation Convention) Regulations 1998 as applicable to the UK Offshore oil and gas sector. He is also the chair of the Oil Spill Working Group as established by the International Offshore Petroleum Environment Regulatory Forum which aims to foster international collaboration, share best practice and progress priority issues relevant to the regulation of oil spill preparedness and response.
