John Weston is an Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) and works for CNOOC on one of the largest producers in the UKCS, The Buzzard Platform. With a career spanning 36 years, John started his career with Shell UK as an apprentice Production Technician and worked in refining for 18 years in his home town of Manchester. John then progressed his career offshore working for BP on the Bruce platform and the Glen Lyon project before moving onto the Golden Eagle project with CNOOC. John strives to deliver safe operations and ensures compliance at all times; his career highlight is the safe hydrocarbon leak free start-up of the Golden Eagle platform and developing its safety culture which continues today with a LTI free record. Working on the Buzzard Platform with a POB of 188 creates its challenges but John promotes good workforce engagement to ensure operations remain safe and stable.
