As the North Sea continues to evolve into a multi-purpose energy basin, a direction articulated in the North Sea Future Plan, colocation between offshore wind, oil and gas, and CCUS is increasingly central to the UK’s energy transition.
This session explores the operational, safety, environmental and regulatory challenges that arise when sectors overlap, alongside the practical solutions emerging from real projects and cross-industry collaboration.
We will unpack key HSE considerations including aviation constraints, safety zones, environmental interactions, and simultaneous operations.
Panellists will also highlight opportunities for shared access, coordinated planning, and more efficient use of existing assets, all critical to delivering the integrated approach envisioned in the North Sea Future Plan.
Join us to understand how improved guidance, aligned standards, better data sharing, and early engagement can enable safe and sustainable colocation across the North Sea.
Facilitated by Professor John Underhill, University Director for Energy Transition, University of Aberdeen
